Document not saved

I have some excel files with macros - very simple files, very simple macros
(read the rows one by one and output a concatenation of a string plus the
values in the cells to a text file).

I keep getting a very uninformative message 'Document not saved'. No reason,
no explanation. If I try again and again, it eventually saves it. If I copy
the file onto my local machine, it works fine, but that really doesn't suit
me, as all the files I'm working with are on the server, and besides, other
people need access to the files I'm working on.

There's loads of space on the server, so that's not the issue.

Help!

I have been working on a similar issue with Office 2003 SP2. After installing
the SP2 for Office 2003, we immediately started having problems saving a
large shared Excel sheet that was password protected. After several weeks I
have defintiely tracked a probem with Office 2003 SP2 that causes a file save
error if the file is password protected. If the password protect is removed,
the file save of the shared file happens normally. This error, like most MS
errors, is wrong and points to a lacka resources, but it is a file save
error. ( I have just retested this after the Office 2003 update just released
a few days ago and it is still a problem. )
