My computer froze so I decided to go to the task manager
end a different Word document thinking that my important
document (which has been on my screen for days) has
automatically been saved a few times and would not be
ended. I've restored my computer but, I've lost that
document completely. Is there anything I can do to
recover it?

This doesn't help you now, but you may want to do similar to what I do when
working on an important document. Using Microsoft Visual SourceSafe (VSS),
a version control program, I'm continually writing to three separate hard
disks.

Repeat
- Make changes. Save and close document. (Saves on C:)
- Check in document to VSS. (Saves on E:)
- On another computer, "Get Latest Version" from VSS. (Saves on the
other computer's C:)
- Every Few "Get Latest Version" Operations
-- Open doc on other computer to make sure it is OK
All Day
Just Before Leaving
- Copy the document to somewhere on the net.
briefcase.yahoo.com is free and works great.
This is off-site backup in case the office burns
down overnight.

I have had two hard disk crashes this year and this strategy has saved my
rear.
