document folders

I was wondering why XP Home Edition has so darn many My Documents and Documents and steeing folders. I am the only one to use my computer and this is a pain in the butt! I only had one folder in Win98. Can any of these be deleted or will it mess up my computer? Also shared files? Why this when it is only one user? Any help would be appreciated.
 
Are you referring to the folders under other users like "Administrator"? You
can't really get rid of them, but they shouldn't be taking too much space.
