I am searching for a free / freeware .doc to .txt converter for windows
(there is one on Linux, word2text/antiword or similiar). Shell command
would be highly preferred.

The idea was to concenate several .doc files as text file.
There is a port of antiword for windows:
http://www.informatik.uni-frankfurt.de/~markus/antiword/
which works _perfectly_ for me.

Microsoft also provides free utility called "Word Viewer for Windows".
