.doc file won't open

Hey everyone,

I've had this one .doc file that I've been working on for the past couple years, it's about 39 kb in size. It's all my poems and lyrics that I've came up with. I used wordpad whenever I wanted to open it. I also created it in wordpad as well. For some reason, it won't open up anymore. It says to check the permissions on it. The permissions are ok. I have a bunch of .doc files in the same folder and they all open up. Could someone please help me with this? I would like to know how to get this file opened up. Oh, it opens in notepad but it's all sloppy looking and scattered everywhere. And I installed Microsoft Office 2000 and it won't open in that either. If someone could tell me what the problem is I'd appreciate it!

In Word 2000, try using the "Recover Text from Any File" setting for "Files
of type" in the File Open dialog.
