Do you want to save changes ?

I have started getting the message "Do you want to save changes to this
document" each time I open then close some Word Documents.
I have not made any changes to the docs. Selecting "no" doesn't seem to
effect anything though.
Mainly seems to be Word Docs I receive. Any suggestions ?
