thought it would be of interest to some people on here
this looks pretty impressive

"These planes are wired. There are two 110-volt power outlets for every three seats (1:1 ratio in first class), USB ports, two WiFi access points on board (front and rear, broadcasting SSIDs today, but not delivering connectivity yet pending regulatory approval), ethernet at every seat (which connects you to a planewide network -- mile high LAN parties, anyone?). EVDO is planned for transmitting data back to the ground "

check it out for yourself

Anything that keeps your mind occupied on a long haul flight is to be welcomed.

Looks good to me.

Now if only they would only offer 240/120 volt sockets for your laptop instead of just 120V for them septic tanks, that would be better.

'Mile high LAN parties' lol :D

ohh that would be something even more special

but how would internet access work up there then?

i

Yep, the aircraft already have datalinks going - I don't know what sort of bandwidth you could expect, but it would probably be fine for normal browsing/e-mail.

I like the idea of getting a LAN game going up there ;)

Just imagine one day about 30 of us pcreview crew up there in the skies going to the States
playing a LAN game whilst in this aeroplane.

:)

i read all about this on engadget, they actually went on a flight and reviewed all the tech

from what i remember they've made it so you can't have a LAN party to stop hackers etc

looks like a great idea although no good for me..never flown in my life-yet :(
