Do you still have a floppy drive?

I am looking to take out the floppy drive and stick in an internal card reader and a cpu fan speed dialer.

Can you beleive my chiftech tower has only got two 3.5inch slots.
Big flaw they should have made it three!

so why keep it? mmmmmmmmmmmmm

I have one on both machines but just like you don't use it!!! hahah

Nope, my new build doesn't have one and I never even thought to include one :)

I didn't include one in my new build either, it was only when my RAM went bad that i needed it, as i couldn't get memtest to run from a cd....

Not used it since.

I was wondering if the new motherboards can be flashed using a memory stick?

How else can you upgrade the bios?

thats got me thinking

Yes, my P5B Dlx can be flashed via USB stick.

Four machines, four floppy drives.

They're only ever used to load RAID drivers and upgrade Bios though, tbh.

Other than that, they gather dust...

But, ya know, seven quid, why not have one?

There again, most Bios's can now be upgraded without a floppy drive.

1.44Mb is a bit crap as storage, innit?

If only Microsoft would let you load RAID drivers from something other than a floppy, I'd probably ditch mine.

Has Vista addressed this quirk?

Anybody loaded RAID drivers in Vista yet?

Does Vista still require a floppy?

If it does then Bill Gates needs his head shoving down a karzi and the flush activated.

Twice, at least :)

Got 3.5" floppy drives on most PC's I use...just in case! ;)
I have about 200 floppy disks full of split archives - useless really!!

Do me good to bin the lot of 'em!

Couple of quid, might as well have one.

Can be useful if you cannot be bothered writing a CD. Don't use it that often, but its worth the £4 it cost me.
