Do you really need TS-CALs and Windows CAL for accessing a Win2K3 terminal server

I was told by my CDW rep that I not only need to purchase TS-CALs for
all my users but I also have to purchase Windows CALs in order to
access a terminal server. Is this true?

Yes, but you only need one Windows CAL per user, so you may already have
them if your users are already using Windows servers

Yea, Good ol' Microsoft licensing for ya! And dont add a SQL server
without getting them SQL Cals too. :-)

so basically. I have 100 users. I need to purchase 200 licenses (100
TS-CALs and 100 Windows CALS). I am using a window 2003 Terminal
server but I am connecting to a Windows 2000 domain. Not sure it that
make a difference.

The domain doesn't matter in this case. Yes, all clients that connect
to the 2003 TS need both a 2003 CAL and a 2003 TS CAL.

If those 100 users are connecting to the domain at the moment, then they
will need Windows Server CALs already.

But the domain is W2K, and the TS runs 2003. So they need to upgrade
their Windows Server CAL to a 2003 Server CAL (+ a 2003 TS CAL).
