Do you like Norton SystemWorks Pro?

Hi,

I've seen the full retail 2003 version for sale for as low as $15 including
one year of updates (but without printed manuals, they're in electronic form
on CD) and as much as I realize the average mass consumer software packages
can be clumsy if not ineffectual this seems like a decent price for what you
get. Is there anything so reprehensible/technical (I'm running XP Pro) about
this package that even the $15 is a waste of money? Maybe Utilities and Ghost
make it worth it whereas I'm better off with NOD32 as an anti-virus solution.

The Professional (http://www.symantec.com/sabu/sysworks/pro/) version includes
the following:
Norton AntiVirus
Norton Utilities
Norton CleanSweep
Norton Ghost
GoBack 3 Personal Edition

A lot of people don't like Symantec products and claim they cause conflicts.
However, I have used Norton for years without any problems. I am using
SystemWorks 2003 running under Win XP-Home Edition. I have AV running in
the background and set to download new AV definitions every week. It has
picked up many worms and viruses (esp. blaster recently) linked to mail sent
by unknown sources. It deletes them after notifying me (or quarantines if a
fix is not available). I also use Norton Ghost to maintain an image of
complete hard disk. I make occasional use of Utilities and CleanSweep. I
have not used GoBack -- in honesty, I don't quite understand the difference
between that and Ghose and haven't taken the time to learn. I have had no
problems whatsoever. The price you quote looks like a "good deal" if it
really is a licensed version (not OEP that should only be installed on a new
computer).

I can echo Mary's response. I have used Norton System work for about 4
years with no problems whatsoever. There are some who claim that it "eats"
system resources, but I have personally have never seen that. I have a
small 4 computer network at home, and I administrate a 71 computer network
at work. All computers but 1 run NSW with no issues and no impact on system
resources. It delivers what it promises and has kept our butts out of the
fire innumerable times. I say go for it...

My uneducated high level answer to the difference is, GoBack doesn't allow
you to make actual on CD or whatever backups and Ghost does. I have heard
Ghost recommended for backups to CDROM as ntbackup won't write to CD.

Sound correct?
