Hi,

I've seen the full retail 2003 version for sale for as low as $15 including
one year of updates (but without printed manuals, they're in electronic form
on CD) and as much as I realize the average mass consumer software packages
can be clumsy if not ineffectual this seems like a decent price for what you
get. Is there anything so reprehensible/technical (I'm running XP Pro) about
this package that even the $15 is a waste of money? Maybe Utilities and Ghost
make it worth it whereas I'm better off with NOD32 as an anti-virus solution.

The Professional (http://www.symantec.com/sabu/sysworks/pro/) version includes
the following:
Norton AntiVirus
Norton Utilities
Norton CleanSweep
Norton Ghost
GoBack 3 Personal Edition

Thanks, Steve.

Hi,

I've used NSW for a couple of years and find in pretty comprehensive and
(usually) catching the high profile viruses. For $15 it's worth the price as
it has a defragmenter that works faster than at least Win98, and cleans up
the registry quickly. The fact that it will normally update its virus dats
is helpful too. Lots of folks seem to blame it for system slow downs but my
only reoccuring problem has been getting it installed. I've had a number of
occasions where NSW would not install completely causing a reformat at least
once.

I too got it from ebay for just £15 a few months ago.

Well worth the purchase!!

I've been using NSW since 2000. I buy the full version each year -- I use it as
a tool in my repair kit. Each version has improvemnts and deletions. Some
features won't work under all OSs.

I have NSW2003 on a Win2000 machine, and I will have it on my WinXP machine.

Oh yeah! Howdy neighbor.

absolutely not!

system stuff is utter nonsence and bloatware and you have to pay for it....the antivirus does it job, as long as you pay,,,,,

NSW is one of the best in my opinion. I've tried others and considered I
have gambled away the money. It has caught numerous viruses and worms for
me. I am used to system works. But if you believe NOD32 better for you,
maybe you are right. Different systems need different solutions.

I've been using NSW since its inception, and NU for probably 12 or 13 years
before that. I use Ghost, Speedisk, NAV, and Windoc regularly. SD has
never faultered, Ghost is a godsend for backing up, and NAV has never failed
to catch incoming viruses. PC Mag tested utilities earlier this year and
NSW scored well, though there was another package available they liked
better, but it was $70. For $15 I'd jump on it.

These applications are worth the $15. Taken as a whole, I can't recommend
using the entire suite, mainly because of system overhead. If you're using
Windows XP, checkdisk and the GUI based defrag utility taken care of disk
maintainence. Manual cleaning of cookies, temp files, and temp internet
cache can be accomplished easily. Spybot S & D in combination with AdAware
take care of most spyware/malware concerns. NOD32 is certainly a good
alternative to NAV2003 if you decide to go that route.
