Do you know whether there's an anti-virus/spyware/firewall
installation CD that you can buy where you get free updates forever,
or do you have to pay for updates once a year?

Install a Linux distribution. End of problem.

Off hand I don't know of any. However I do know of some where you get the
products for _free_ and then get updates for _free_. If having a physical
CD in your hand is really important to you then you could always download
one the appropriate packages and burn your own CD.

Did you do a web search for
free anti-virus products?  Avast and AVG are two that come
to mind.

I think I did but that none that none that I found five you free
firewall protection, so it looks like I got to shell out about 50
bucks a year. That's a lot of money.

Eset NOD32 is well worth the money. AVG free version doesn't scan
scripts, for rootkits, web downloads or IM messages so misses the most
common forms of infection.

Mount a Linux version.  Ubuntu is easy.  All versions are free.  No
worries about viruses.

Okie doke, thanx to all. In this email below I got, they spun it to
make it sound like they are doing every customer of theirs a big
favour.
