If the company enters administration you won`t
I knew that was coming and I guessed that was the real reason behind this thread.
Yes, it does make me wonder a little and even the biggest company could be on the brink of collapse in the current climate.
I've been using Scan mostly for recent orders and within two or three hours of the order being placed I'm e-mailed confirmation of postage and a code number to track delivery with the Courier company.
So that's quite secure but even then I suppose Scan could go go belly-up within a few hours of your credit/debit card purchase and it's even possible the Courier company could fold overnight.
Yes, there is a risk of purchasing online, there always has been, always will be and in the current economic climate that risk is more acute.
However, I think the risk is minimal and rarely are my online purchases more than £200.00 I also believe when I use a credit card I am covered against the possibility of a company becoming insolvent once they're debited my card. Not 100% sure on that though, I'll have to look into it.
If I were to purchase something expensive such as a TV, I'd buy from a High Street shop, not online, FWIW.
Incidentally my Mum refuses to buy anything online, she tells me she just doesn't trust giving any card numbers to a system that she believes to be riddled with security issues. My Mum is 78 years old.
