This site took over my browser. I ran it and there was
140 errors? It gave me a Trojan-CnsMin from InterChina
network p/l. I have a 2 week free trial of Spy Sweeper
which removed it.

There's alot about which cause more problems than they
solve, Recently Ive seen alot of these being installed:

SpyHunter, VirusHunter, AdwareDelete, Winfixer2005(This
is very similar to ErrorGuard), Spysheriff, AdDestroyer,
VirtualBouncer, killallspyware, RegistryCleaner(This one
is hard to get information on but the company in the
download info says online software?)

They always seem to be installed with malware, I always
get the feeling its the same app's with a new name, they
get bad press then just change the packaging and abit of
the code and release it again. Im not sure if all these
are on the rogue list but they all should be in my view
as they are full of false postives to get people to buy
them and they always install with malware.

For ErrorGuard Heres the results of the test Ive just run
on my test system:

ErrorGuard/ErrorHunter will detect entries by Spybot,
Kasperky, Microsoft, Adaware, Ewido etc... Then show that
the objects have to be removed because they
are "critical" it found alot of the above and then tagged
things like Notepad.exe and all my other security
programs and files on my desktop as critical coming up to
about 300 errors for winfixer and 80 for ErrorGuard

ErrorGuard uses the look of Windows with identical system
tray icons and interface as Windows Security Center and
also uses the name Microsoft ErrorGuard on some of its
sites.

Im conviced its connected to Winfixer as they are really
similar in both looks and the false positives its showing
both have entries from Ewido & Spybot and funny enough
all the .wav sounds from XP,Ewido & Adaware.

All its showing is "Exhaustive Registry Check" Critical
for Errorguard and then "Damaged Files on C" System
Threats for Winfixer, Lets hope they dont actually fix
anything if you pay them as it could cause problems,

Ccleaner can do all this for free without the false
positives except Ccleaner is genuine and doesnt cost $40
(Winfixer) or $30 (ErrorGuard , Its not alot of money but
it probably doesnt do anything plus you are giving your
credit card details to these people which cannot be safe
and may cause problems in the future.

So I fully agree with the post here do not download
ErrorGuard or any of the other junk listed ;)

Hi Andy

If possible can you send your information to
Spywarewarrior ? Suzi or Eric.
Mail adresses within webpage.

These apps must be hunted down and Spywarewarriors
list is a good place to search for rouge apps.

Hi Plun

I will forward this info if they are not on the rogue
list's, Im sure if they are not there yet they will be
very soon as they are clearly malicious and anyone who
gives this scum credit card info should really consider
changing the account as they may have problems in a few
weeks or months.

That the problem these days with this junk there's that
many applications popping up its hard to know who are
genuine or malicious but when they start flaggin MS,Ewido
& Spybot entries they dig a large hole for themselves
instantly and with Errorguard using the name Microsoft
Errorguard on some sites there days are numbered in my
opinion, Im sure MS will not accept this especially when
they use similar icons as the security centre.

From the quick test I did last night it just appears they
look for unused registry entries in the same way Ccleaner
does which are harmless anyway and do not effect the
system but then the results they give are just nonsense
and was showing Damaged files on C and saying Critical
for all of them and showing all the detections from my
last post so its hard to take them serious.

For example I know my test system was infected with
SurfSideKick, Aurora, PacerD, TrojanDownloaders,
Qoologic, Exact, Websearch, and more as Id downloaded the
bundle thats going round with the silent installs and
they didnt have a problem with any of these entries just
the genuine programs.

From the detections I get the impression even if you pay
for the product it will not fix them as they are not
damaged and alot were just .wav sounds from the pinball
game and then entries from other security app's I have
installed as well as XP files like Notepad.exe and .wav
sounds.

I expected some of these malware programs to be detected
but I suppose they cannot be sure malware is installed so
its easier if they just flag genuine files and security
app' files as critical to make sure they hook people into
thinking there is a problem

I will check the rogue site abit later and see if these
are listed and if not will find the WHOIS information on
them and get screenshots to show the detections then pass
them all on as you suggest,

Chat to you later

Hey Plun

I emailed Eric with the details of app's that are missing
of the list, Ive said I will be happy to send the trial
versions to him to test and the installation files for
each so will wait for a reply to see if he needs them.

Good Idea Plun, it will help to get these included on the
lists to prevent others being fooled into thinking they
are genuine

Thanks

Andy
