Ordered a AMD 2400 CPU. Received it after 2 weeks after being
pestered to take added warranty for $10.00. Pin #218 was bent on
receiving this CPU and after trying it in a A7V266-E motherboard found
it was defective (caused Video problems). Sent it back on an RMA and
they CND'd it (no problem found). Wanted to charge me $25.00 to
return it or refund my money (minus $35.00 restocking fee). Basically
this is a rip-off scam to make money off of bad parts by sending them
out to unsuspecting customers. BEWARE!!!

Just checking but...when you tried another cpu...
the video problems went away?

It would seem more likely to be a driver problem.

It seems many others agree with you.

yep, I used to go and check out a vender when someone would complain here. Sure enough, even though resellers has been tainted a
bit , it still does a great job of giving you an idea who to buy from and who not.
Its talked about here quite often and since this fellow posted his distress here, I assume he's must have lurked or participated for
some time. and yet this happened anyway,,,puzzling.

I used to buy from Tufshop all the time about 2 years ago and had no
problems with them. They used to have a great "build your own"
interface. However, I should have been warned when their website
changed; that there had been a reorganization. Yes, I had another AMD
2.4 from NewEgg that worked like a charm.

Good point!

It would be rather interesting if the CPU worked fine
except for video problems, and the fault really being
within the CPU.

Was this a retail CPU, or an "OEM" CPU?

I have learned, "OEM" is strictly 'buyer beware' and personally,
I would not buy any "OEM" part unless I had a chance to examine
and test it prior to purchase (at a computer show??).
