Do new AIW cards still support ATI .VCR file format?

I used to have AIW 8500DV. I recorded lots of video with
closed-captiones in .VCR format. I'm thinking of getting a new
capture card. Do their new AIW cards or other TV capture cards
still support .VCR format? Thanks.

It's got nothing to do with the card - you can play .VCR files without
even an ATI video card. Just need the right codec, which Multimedia
Center should install automatically. AFAIK it's just an MPEG-4
implementation.

Sorry for late follow-up.

My PC is ATI hardware free now after so many years of ATI Pest.
But I tried Multimedia Center out anyway. When I run the
installation, files are installed, but no Start menu item was
created. So I couldn't run Media Center. Then I tried to play
the .vcr files with Windows Media Player and a popular player out
there called VLC. Both only played the sound, but no video. Any
idea?

I've got tons of .vcr files that are videos, but can't do
anything with them now.

You dont install MMC on a non ATI card, but you want to install the following
codec from AMD/ATI

Just tried. It's the same as before. Sound plays. Video
doesn't. I guess something else might be wrong with my machine.

If you do an Advanced search for :ativcrx.exe you'll find an explanation.
Not what you're hoping for I'm afraid.
