Most likely you do need SP-2.
However if your application truly is not supported by SP-2, stay in
communication with the manufacturer at least until they are
compatible.
Or is it something the application does or fails to do?
If the manufacturer has concerns for their customers security, the
will have a fix soon.
Actually since they have had months to prepare for SP-2, they would
have had a fix by now if they really cared.
Some of the new security features appear to cause problems when in
fact it is expected behavior until, an appropriate setting or upgrade
is made.
If you are diligent about maintaining your computer, you may not need
SP-2 today...tomorrow may be another story.
