Do I need to use the DNS on the server to be able to have users login into
the server with roaming profiles and have group policies apply to them? I
have the DNS addresses from my ISP.

Im somewhat new to server 2003. All help is appreciated!

You cant have a good network with Windows 2000 --> if you dont have your own
DNS server. Its very mutch job to make a good network with TCP/IP and not
using internal DNS server.

You cannot use your ISP's DNS in any position of any Active Directory Domain
Controller or Member, unless the ISP DNS has a zone for your AD Domain (very
unlikely).
All DCs and members must ONLY use DNS servers that support the AD domain and
have the Domain Controller's Service Location (SRV) records. It is
recommended this zone be on a DC, and that you use AD integrated zones
allowing only secure dynamic updates. Then, set the local DNS server to
forward to a router, firewall, or ISP's Recursive Proxy DNS server.

Let's put it this way, when users need to logon, access resources, open
their Exchange email, authenticate to Active Directory, or even when Active
Directory DCs need to find themselves, (and yes, DCs even need to find
themselves),.they ask DNS.

Your DNS knows where YOUR domain controllers are. Now, if your DCs and your
clients asked your ISP's DNS, will their server know where YOUR domain is?
