I have installed TSLS service on my Win2k ADDC. I was about to activate it,
going through the internet or phone activation process, when my boss asked me
if we needt to activate this service, if we are using 20 Win2k Professional
clients to connect to the Terminal server/Citrix server. I know that under TS
licensing, the 20 win2k Professional clients will appear under the
"temporary" section (they have 90 day licenses granted by the TS LS service,
but since each of the 20 Win2K profressional PCs has a TS CAL license built
in, do we need to go through the extra step of activating the TSLS service?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Sam

Yes you have to activate the licensing calling anumber as provided below:

Terminal server Licensing will only issue CALs for 90 days from the time it
is installed. The activation date does not reset this. I recommend checking
out the Windows XP Terminal Server CAL Transition program at

http://licensecode.one.microsoft.com/transition

. It is available for products purchased prior to April 24, 2003. If you
need additional CALs, the clearinghouse can be contacted at (888) 571-2048.

You should activate the service if you intend to use beyond the temporary 90
day period. Prior to the 90 days, you may not need to activate.
