hi, I am no teckie and appriciate the help. I have Windos XP, SP3 and office
2003. I had to reformat my PC (long story) and because it wiped everything
clean, had to install updates via Windows update (SP 3 etc.).

There is an option software update of .NET framework v 1.1. I already have
2.0 Service Pack 2, 3.0 Service Pack 2 and 3.5 Service Pack 1. Do I need to
install v1.1??

Thanks

If you want to run a program that needs v1.1, yes. If you don't run
such programs, no.

The fact that you have later versions is irrelevant.

This probably sums it up for you -
Benefits of the Microsoft .NET Framework

Note Most of the time, you can use the latest version of the .NET Framework
to run applications that were created by using earlier versions of the .NET
Framework.

So, if you have an application that definitely requires v 1.1, then you'll
need to install it.
