Hi

Do i need SSL to make an eCommerce ASP 2.0 site ?

Users have their login /pw , is this not enough ?

If yes ; are there different types of SSL certificates ?

Johan

only if you ask for personal info or credit cards, or having captured
the username/password with a network sniffer, the hacker can access
personal info.

You don't *need* one...

However, the question is really whether you expect to find anyone stupid
enough to transmit their credit card (and other personal) details over the
web without one - I certainly wouldn't, and I assume you wouldn't either...

Absolutely not!

The sever is in a secured building, only a DSL line extits from there.
Is there a chance for sniffers in that case ?

There is no credit card info entered, the users are known by us and pay
based on the invoice.
so no sensitive info is entered.

OK.

so no sensitive info is entered.

In which case, you're probably OK...

If they can place orders or do business of any kind on the site you
should use SSL period. 200 bucks a year from thawte...

I would recommend to get it cheaper from godaddy.com
$49
Works exactly the same. And nowadays most (like 99.9%) browsers recognizes
it.
