Do I need DX9 on a DAW that only uses VST's ?

Not sure if this is the right forum or not...

With Logic Platinum 5.5.1 and TC's Powercore in
Windows XP Pro (SP1), I'm only using VST plug-ins
or Logic's native ones.

If I'm not using DirectX plug-ins, is there any benefit
in installing the latest DirectX 9.0b rather than carry
on with the default 8.1 in XP ?

Are there any system benefits or improvements in audio
handling
with DX9 that would make the update worthwhile?

My ATI graphics card is only DX8 capable but I don't
use it for games - just running an audio workstation
here.

Cheers,
Laz

As you wish, but 9b is more stable and optimised.

Get it as part of your standard XP updates.

No problem, 9b is backward compatible.
