Hey,
I got the Sapphire Atlantis 9800 pro and ran the benchmarks. They
are not impressive and others with the same parts are 30% better than
mine without overclocking. While things are running fine I wonder why.
Where is my bottleneck?? Will nForce2 help? It will handle my CPU and
RAM. I hate to have such a nice card being held back. What do I need??

Asus A7V266-C 266fsb, AMD 2400+ 266, 768meg PC2100 ddr

Okay... lets begin

Do the games you wish to play, play nice at high enough resolutions
and hot enough eye-candy.

Yes/No

Yes:

In that case, you don't need to upgrade

No:

In that case wait untill the new lines of videocards are out since no
card currently on the market is really much faster

So in both cases, DON"T UPGRADE!

Just be happy with what you have!

Your system RAM is possibly the problem at pc2100 it could be holding up the
rest of the system

PC2100 is the best my board will do. I was wondering because other
folk with the same cpu get 20-30% better Aquamark3 scores with the
same card. It appears that the neither the CPU nor the card are
overclocked in most cases. I rank 110 out of 125 at 30,000 marks. So
those worse than me are using pc133??

Is this an ALi chipset board? If so, you need a registry tweak to get the
AGP working full speed... I had to do this a while back on Asus board and it
worked.

If you run DXDIAG do you see that AGP is disabled on the DISPLAY tab???

All directX features are enabled there. I had an ALi board some time
back but changed it to build a DDR system back when PC2100 was fast.

Change your AGP Aperture size to equal or larger than the amount of memory
installed in your 9800.

The AMD2400 & 9800Pro is a good package... getting a faster system
won't give you SUPER boost...

BUT... what OS are you using? With the AMD XP CPUs and modern
boards... Windows98 suffers about a 20% performance loss compared to
WinXP... but the video card benchark doesn't change much.

Perhaps the Sapphire9800Pro isn't a true pro?

Your system should be running awesome. I'd say its a software problem.
You've probably got load of junk in your registry and system tray your
not even aware of. FORMAT and try again :) Or if your brave enough,
use regedit.

Format done! Fresh install of WinXP (shows my determination) but no
help.

WinXP sp1a - Cat 3.10 - fresh formatted install. (Sorry, I should
have mentioned my OS from the get go. This is the Aida32 report...
