My computer has a CD burner and I need to save a movie I created on movie
maker on a CD so that I can view it on my DVD home player. I attempted to
save it on a cd disk and my DVD player does not recognize the disk. My other
dvd player is only able to detect the audio but unable to see the pictures.
What can I do. I don't want to give up. I know many people are enjoying the
benefits of this program.

If I obtain a DVD authoring program can it be used with my CD burner or is
their any way for me to burn the file to a cd and let it think it is a DVD.

I really would appreciate anyone's assistance on this matter.

Thank you,
Claudia

If you want to stick with your CD burner, you need to use third party
software and burn what's termed a VCD. It will never look as good as a DVD
would on your tv with your standalone DVD player, but it will be viewable.

Yes, you need to 'burn' a VCD (video cd) with your burner. Two programs I
have that can do the job are Ulead Movie Factory (www.ulead.com ...$50)....
and AVS Converter (www.avsmedia.com ....$29.95) Movie Factory also does
dvd's, and AVS Converter has easy interfaces to convert file formats and
audio. If you try the AVS Converter trial, you click on the 'to DVD' at the
top....and on the dropdown profile you choose VCD-NTSC good quality. You
need to 'browse' to your file to import it, and when you chose 'convert' you
just follow the wizard thru the converting and burning process. Click on
the 'advanced' button to see the parameters listed at the bottom of the
interface for your movie. At Thanksgiving I showed a nephew how to make a
movie in Movie Maker with his kids pictures....since he only has a cd burner
we used AVS converter to do it. We then played it on his 15'' kitchen tv
and the results were much better than I expected....since I've only made
dvd's. Good luck with your movie!

I've been using the Ulead program. I create a video with WMM and save it to
my computer. I then import that file into Ulead and create a SVCD which my
DVD player can read. It's a long process but it works. I could do it direct
with ADS Express DVD for the capture and Ulead to edit but I find WMM much
easier to work with. You have to make sure that when you capture the video
you do it in Mpeg1 format, not Mpeg2.
