Do I have Works install files?

Sorry, I don't know where else to ask this - I realize Works isn't
part of XP. Microsoft Works came installed on my emachine, which came
with a restore disk. I don't feel that I have any real use for Works,
but at the same time I'm reluctant to uninstall if the installation
files aren't somewhere on the hard drive.

Could anyone tell me where I'd look, or for what? TIA.

Did you get a separate program disk for works?

try "exploring" the disks that you have and see what's there.

My PC, which came with Works Suite 2002 installed, also came with the Works
Suite CD set (six CDs). If yours didn't, complain to your vendor. I
believe they're obligated to provide you with the means of reinstalling the
software they preinstalled. Of course, this might just be a disk that will
restore the drive to its factory-supplied state, in which case you lose.

The disks contain a disclaimer about any unnamed third party software
that might have been included with the computer, plus some XP-related
materials, and the drivers on the second disk. If the Works
installation files are here, then they're on the computer HD. The
system does come with a Bundle folder containing a three-month trial
offer of Norton AV and MSMoney, but Works was already installed.

I've run a search on my c:\ drive for cab files, can't see anything
that I'd identify as associated with Works. It may be that the
installed version is all there is.

Nope. And there isn't a heck of a lot on the two restore disks. Mostly
one seems to provides the means to do repairs using files on the hard
drive, while the other contains the drivers.

Since there's a 40G hard drive, I'll likely leave Works in place if I
can't identity the install files.

Call the support department of wherever you bought the computer and find out
why you don't have the original install disks.
