What if I want to use Novell's DNS or a Linux based DNS
server? Is that possible?

Thanks,

Rick

As long as the DNS server supports SRV records you can use it. Ideally it
would support dynamic updates but it is not a requirement.

In addtion to Danny's response, its WAY EASIER (and fool proof) to use MS
DNS, kind of like that Ron Popeil infommercial for his ovens: "You set it
and forget it!" Also there are Secure Updates advantages that BIND doesn't
support yet with MS DNS, nor not sure if it will at this point due to the
use of Kerberos for the TSIG.

Thanks for the information.

The link for configuring BIND to support AD does not
appear to be valid.

Thanks again.

Apparently they changed the URL. A quick search thru MS' technet site found
the new one:
