Do I have to uninstall Win2000 before installing XP?

I'd like to upgrade to XP and want no drama. Is it really clean and safe to upgrade, or should I start from scratch? When I went from ME (lousy OS) to 2000, I had to start from scratch to get the best result. I sure hope I don't have to go through that again. Thanks.

A clean installation will give the best results. You can do that from an
upgrade cd, you do not have to buy the full version cd. Have your Windows
2000 cd handy during the install as you will need to insert it when prompted
to prove you have a previous version of Windows.
