Try and keep to the original thread as it will become confusing. Have answered
you in other thread.

Being somewhat of a novice myself, I can't figure out what you are
asking.

I'lll take a stab at it: I beleive you can put your documents anywhere
in a folder on your hard dirve (create one if you want), and can call
them up to print, as long as you know which folder they are in. What
program did you write these documents in? Are they .txt (standard
plain text) or some other extension? Whatever program you used, you
should be able to guide your way to the folder you saved your
documents in.

I have mine in a "My Documments" that already existed. it is inside
of a folder called "Docments & settings, then inside there is my user
ID on the system on a folder, then fdinally inside of that one is my
"My Documents" folder. Sub-folder of a sub-folder.

But I don't have to navigate through all of that to get to my docs -
from the start bar, pressing start, I have shortcut choices, one of
which is My Documents. Of course your naviagtions depends on which XP
format you are using - I am using one that has doesn't have an icons
page when I do access Start (not default the way it came orig on my
system)

I think I probably confused you more.

** I created a new folder UNDER Local Disk C:\ and copied everything from
My Documents to it.

What
program did you write these documents in? Are they .txt (standard
plain text) or some other extension? Whatever program you used, you

** Everything personal including my music was ABOVE C:\ where these print
programs didn't go. I had to move everything UNDER C:\ = now I have
everything on my HD TWICE! One copy of everything in My Documents UNDER
Desktop and another copy in a new folder below that, UNDER Local Disk C:\.
In W-98 everything WAS under C:\ . How can MS consider this an
improvement over W98?

I have mine in a "My Documments" that already existed. it is inside
of a folder called "Docments & settings, then inside there is my user
ID on the system on a folder, then fdinally inside of that one is my
"My Documents" folder. Sub-folder of a sub-folder.

** That sounds even more confusing and a lot of clicks to get to your
stuff. I avoid subfolders if possible.
But I don't have to navigate through all of that to get to my docs -
from the start bar, pressing start, I have shortcut choices, one of
which is My Documents.

** A shortcut to My Documents? How did you make that? I don't have that
choice witn W-XP home.

** I don't understand what you mean. I'm using the w98 format style.
My desktop looks much like W98 which we had no problems working with and
understanding.
I think I probably confused you more.

** Not really. Sounds like your WXP is set up differently than mine with
a different TREE in WE.

There are several shortcuts presented to me when I click on "Start".
A big window comes up, and there are folders are there - really icons,
and next to the folders and icons, in big text, on the right side, is
what the folder/icon goes to. Among other things, I have shortcuts
to:
My Documents
My Pictures
My Music
My Computer

Also are presented severalprograms that I have accessed recently, or
access a lot (big icon with text next to it). Other things presented
in this window are control panel, search, run, and a couple more.

When I first got the computer, it looked like old Windows, with little
icons for everything. Then I had to re-install XP because of a
problem I had when the computer got turned off while RealOne was
installing, and I lost all sound. Well, I didn't do the re-install of
Windows XP, my father who lives here did it. He reformatted &
everything (didn't want to do that, just re-install Windows). ** He
chose something else as the way in which Windows would display. I do
not where in the install sequence you get to choose. But it came out
different & I was upset at first, because it was foreign to me. Now I
love it. It's like for dummies. I still have folders & icons
presented & stuff, but not in the old way Windows displayed. Except
the start up screen has about 11 icons on it, like the old display.

Sorry I cannot help you much, as I too am somewhat of a beginner.

Big Mac,
If you want to go back to 'Classic Start Menu' from the Xp default menu, go
to Start/ Settings/ Taskbar & Start menu/Start menu/ and click on Classic
Start menu, rather than Start menu.
I use classic, and these prompts are from the classic wordings. You will
have to read between the lines to get there with the Xp default, as the
wording is not quite the same.
Rob.
