First I would like to thank Mark L Ferguson for answering my question! Now I
would like to know if I need to buy Windows XP home edition to start my
computer from the start? If I had the disk originally, I no longer have it!

If these 4 Disks not just a normal backup CDs and they are recovery disks
then you can recover your computer from them.
But if they are a normal backup for files and docs then you cannot!

You can contact the vendor of your Laptop to send you a recovery CD, but you
will be charged for this CD.
When you start the Laptop, is there a message about recovery or Press F11
to recover your Laptop to factory settings? if there press F11 and recover to
factory settings. Also how many Partitions you have on this laptop, you could
have a Recovery partition installed and you can use that by pressing F11 as
mentioned above check by double click " My Computer" how disk icons there.

Go here and check your Laptop specs and see if your laptop match the specs:

Or it is time for a new laptop :)

You can get Linux for free to start your computer.
Ubuntu 8.x is out and if you can find a want to download the ISO and
burn it to a CD. It will let you run up off of the CD only and look at
the hard drive. If nothing else prove the hardware workable.

Also nass says press F11 but my pc says press F12 for recovery. It
should be on your screen. Or in your manual?
