i think that i need this for my work but not thrilled to download it looking
at the hassles it is causing...is excel 2003 appropriate?

MS Office is not part of the operating system but must be purchased
separately.
Office 2003 will not be supported much longer so you should get Office (or
Excel) 2007.
If downloading is a problem, why not visit a store or purchase the physical
media from a store using the internet?
best wishes

You have Excel in Vista only if the seller installed it or MS Office.

Only you can determine that.........or ask the seller.

2003 would most likely do the job, but you cannot "download" it.

You can buy Excel 2003 standalone but it's just a few dollars more to buy
the entire MS Office Suite.

You can download a trial version of Office 2007 which has a 60-day limit,
after which you pay for futher use.

Hi,

I'm not clear on the question. But if you are asking can you run Office
2007 using Windows XP the answer is Yes, and it runs faster than under Vista,
at least on my machines.

If you are asking can you run Office 2003 under VISTA the answer is yes again.

If you are asking do you get Excel (Office) with Vista, just as Bernard said
- No.

Excel will probably be supported for some time to come, and even though
Windows XP will officially no longer be supported in the future (I'm not sure
when), you can certainly continue to use it.
