Not so quick

I've got a LAN of three computers. Also
a domain name for my website. I know they
prob have nothing to do with each other.

According to a help file from Microsoft I'm
probably not going to be able to use remote
assistance from one of my computers to
another. All are running XP, two home...
There is a Linksys router.

I can't do remote assistance with anyone now.
I've tried with 2 computers of friends in other
states. Oh well.

: -)

You can use Remote Desktop to any XP machine irrespective of it is part of a
domain or not. The key things that will erode this ability are

1 - firewall is enabled on remote station (thus not having Remote Desktop
port open aka 3389)
2 - the machines are misconfigured (either IP addressing is wrong or device
not running TCPIP)
3 - machines is turned off or the wires between point A and point B are
unplugged or disabled

The remote desktop works ok, but not
remote assistance.

You need to enable remote assistance.

It is on the same tab (whcn you click on MyComputer properties) as remote
desktop.

I did that. I got as far as receiving a request for assistance
by email and trying to respond to it. The error message
was "unable to resolve address", of the other computer.
Have you actually used remote assistance? I haven't found
anyone who actually uses it. I hope that doesn't sound
bad. I just mean that it seems very hard to configure.
