Angus Rodgers
For several months now, I have been receiving e-mails,
approximately one per day, similar to the one below.
I don't know anything about my alleged ``previously
expressed "opt-in" to one of our electronic, mail, or
telephone requests for information and/or security
update services''.
I don't have anything called "Command Antivirus" installed
on either of my two PCs, nor have I had for several years.
(I have a dim memory of perhaps once having had something
with a similar name installed on my old Windows 95 PC, in
1998 or thereabouts.)
When I started receiving these e-mails (on or before 28
January this year), I had had eTrust EZ Antivirus installed
on my machine, and AVG on my daughter's machine, both for
several years. It's hard to believe that these e-mails
could be associated with either program.
Are the messages spam? If not, what are they? Is it safe
to click on the "unsubscribe" link?
I'd be grateful for any enlightenment you can offer.
