Theoretically the X1800XL, but it's well below the 7800GT
performance-wise...

That's not what I've just read in this months CustomPC magazine. They say
X1800XL is slighter faster at everything. What makes you think otherwise??

There is a review of several ATI X1800XL and Nvidia 7800GT cards in the
current c't magazine (it's a German computer magazine which unlike the
crop of other PC magazines has a very good reputation and a high level
of competence). They basically say the X1800XL comes to late and is too
expensive (which of course regards to the street prices here in Germany)
and also can't fully reach the level of the 7800GT. On the positive side
the ATI has the better image quality (unlike Nvidia it can do HDR with
AA), and doesn't perform as worse in OpenGL as older ATI cards (it's
around equally to the 7800GT)...

You make a good point about price. Personally, if I was in the market for a
videocard right now, the 7800GT is where I'd be looking. Too little too
late, ATI (and costs too much).

Thats the gist of the review sive been reading. Its about the same as
the 7800gt. But about 50 bucks more expensive. And its using the old
baord and nothing new realy.
