I have a local net connected to the internet. All the
clients are win98 but one which is XP. The Win98 computers
can access to the internet but the XP (with the same
settings) cannot.
From the WinXP I can ping any address (using numbers, ej.
216.239.41.99), even outside my local net, which means that
the gateway works. But I cannot ping any address using
names (ej. www.google.com) The DNS server is the same as
for the Win98 computers and for these ones it works fine!
If I use the browser (IE or Mozilla) I cannot access any
address (neither using names or using numbers).
The WinXP could conect to the internet when I installed it,
but one day I swithed it on and didn't (without changing
the settings). It has happened two times before, i fully
reinstalled it and it worked again. But I think there must
be a solution to preclude reinstalling it all again.
Anyone can help? Thanks
