I have two servers Win 2000 Server. One is the PDC with
AD, and the second (Win2KS)is configured to be a DNS
server for local and Internet request. Internet requests
are made to another DNS server by the function "Forward
Server". When I set up AD on the second server, the
wizard link and sync the two servers in the same domain,
but the option "Forward Server" ("Server di inoltro" in
italian lng)on the second will be deactivated with the
message: "There are not available forward servers. This
is a main server" in the "Property/Forward servers"
windows of the DNS MMC of the second (both) server(s).
I need the option Forward Server! How can I do? There is
a solution or I need a third server to manage Forward
servers option?

(How is my english ?????)

Thanks and bye.
Michele.

Michele,
Make sure there isn't a folder in your Forward Lookup zones by the name ".". This signifies the server as a root server which disables forwarders and root
hints. To correct this, delete the "." root zone folder and reboot the server. After the reboot, forwarders will be available again.

Thank you
