Hello

I am trying to re-create the environment of one of our customer (it wasn´t setup by us and we have to live with it
There is only one domain call mydomain, there is about 10 sites/DCs
We are taking over the support for this domain and its really a mess (replication, topologie, DC which weren´t removed...
They created a domain mydomain without any suffix and an AD intregrated zone call mydomain
DNS is apparently working fine (nslookup works)
My problem is when i try to do the same in an environment lab and i can´t install it correctly ( i am always missing the folder _msdcs _sites _tcp _udp ) but it does create a record for the DC

I personaly thought ( and i thing i read it) that it was adviced to create a domain with the extension .local or .lan but never without extension
So if somebody already had the same experience, i would like to hear from him and specially if anybody knows what is the impact of such settings on windows 200 network

Thank you

Here is what you need to know.

I think that I have also such a problem :
- domain : mydomain.local
- no SRV folders _msdcs _sites _tcp _udp in DNS
- problems installing a 2nd DC (unable to find a primary DC on th
domain to install a new one !!)

I've already tried to address this case by setting registry value
proposed below, but it didn't seem to work

Please could you help me ?

Thanks a lot in advance !

Can you post your ipconfig /all from the DC?
You may have a disjointed namespace.
