Hi All,
The Background...
I've setup a root server (with AD & DHCP & DNS) called lt2003.local:
(172.26.117.1) (Root.lt2003.local)
I've setup a sub domain (with WINS & DNS) called uk.lt2003.local:
(172.26.117.2) (Server.uk.lt2003.local)
I've tried two clients XP and NT:
XP can join the domain and will be assigned a correct IP from the
scope - i can even ping the root server or server.uk.lt2003.local but
if i try and ping "server.uk" on its own it wont appent the
"lt2003.local" to the end - even though its the append to list!? The
Ipconfig /all displays everything it should...
NT4 is a little better in that it will append but it takes 8 seconds
or so for it do it... it'll ping the FQDN or the NETBIOS Name
instantaneously though.
I can although as a workaround edit the hosts file and it will work...
but i'm looking for a better resolution.
Any idea's or if you've seen this before... I've been on this for 4
days now... I'm going slightly mad...
Thanks
Steve
