DNS stops working

I'm running windows 2000 sp4 and have been having a issue
where the DNS will stop resolving all names and the only
way to get it working again is to restart the DNS Server
Service. When I lose the DNS I am still able to ping the
DNS server and everything in my domain, just not outside
of it.

Subnetmask on the client is not right.
Do you have options 003, 006 and 015 in DHCP-server, Scope options?
On the servernic, TCP/IP, Advanced, tab DNS: make sure the 'register in DNS'
and 'add primary suffix' are both checked. Tab WINS: enable Netbios over
TCP/IP.
