DNS Setup error messages

hello all,
i have just started configuring my first "network" I set
up DNS with my domain name, and created a forward lookup
for this. I also pointed my workstations and server to
itself instead of my isp's dns servers-but still cannot
connect and getting error message:

registration os dns record'_ldap_tcp.default-first site
name_sites.shoreline.net 600 in SRV 0 100 389
server.shoreline.net'failed with the following error:a
connection attempt failed because the connected party did
not properly respond after a period of time or failed
because connected host failed to respond.

any ideas much appreciated

Can you post an ipconfig /all, please?
There are four or five guesses I can make but I would prefer to make an
educated diagnosis.
