When i do a nslookup from a client in our enviorement
(win2k) i get { DNS request timed out. timeout was 2
seconds.} However if i do the dame nslookup from the
DC?/DNS server it resolves right away. This also happens
for internal clients where you get the time out. I don't
know if our problem with having old records still there
even though you set the scavaging and has done it
manually recently my self. When i try to do a
ipconfig/rigisterdns i get this error {did not register
with DCOM within the required timeout.}

Check that the DNS Client has the correct IP address configured. Check the
DNS/UDP and DNS/TCP connectivity between that machine and your proxy DNS
server. Check that your proxy DNS service is actually up and running. Look
at your proxy DNS server's logs to see whether it is receiving the query.
(You may have to enable the logging of such events.)
