DNS server not listed in MMC

I have 3 DNS servers, A,B & C. When I'm on the console of
A and B and open the DNS MMC they see each other but not
C. When I look at C, it only see's itself only. I can
manually add C to A or B, but after a reboot of A or B, C
is no longer listed, and needs to be added again. Why
does this happen?

Try creating a new DNS MMC console that has all three servers in it. Does this one save the info?

Thank you,

that was it...however when i use the add-in feature in the
MMC it works the same but does not look the same as the
DNS manager that is in the Admin pack. So i just copied
the dnsmgr.msc from another 2000 machine and it seems to
work okay for now.

What would case that problem to evolve? We originally
thought this was due to the systems being on different
subnets.

dnsmgr.msc is just a saved console file for mmc. You can create custom
console files, and even (with appropriate creds) edit / replace the original
console file.

Sometimes people accidentally open up MMC, load a console file (in edit
mode), make a change, and save the modified console file without intending
to.

The "look" you were mentioning might just be that the particular set of MMC
display options specified in the .MSC file were different from the standard
set of options.
