I come here in absolute desperation! I have tried everything I can think of.
I have 3 machines and a Linksys WRT54G router (latest firmware)
Windows 98
Windows XP Home
Windows XP Pro
All the machines access the internet and each other without a problem except
for one thing. The Pro machine does not seem to be registering properly in
the DNS. It can be accessed through its IP but its name is not present in
the worgroup and \\x10 doesn't work or anything. I didn't think too much of
it until I realised that the Pro machine can't resolve the names of any of
the other machines on the local network either! The Home and 98 machines
work fine and everything runs smoothly to "x10" if you use IPs in both
directions, but I don't want to check IPs every time I want to make a
transfer to/from x10!
DHCP assigns the IP addresses and ipconfig shows that a DNS server is
readily available with a valid suffix etc. I am completely at a loss!
Someone please help me!
