can i set the default gateway to all clients pointing to
my other router and have them resolve the linksys router
through dns? which all clients would have to resolve.
Wouldnt that be possible once i have my pointer setup?

How should that look: DNS:Forwarder should have the
Linksys ip:192.168.1.1 or the INTERNAL DNS?

Each client should have the prefered DNS: 172.17.5.29 and
the name of the DNS SERVER correct?

Also the Server shouldnt the server have its Default
gateway pointing to the other server and have it resolve
the internet by goin to the DNS also?

Thank You so much, just a bit confused.

Not sure wha you're saying here you don't need a PTR for the router IP, you
only want one for the IP your internal DNS server is on. Notice I said
"want", it is not necessary, but it will stop the nslookup message at start
up.

The forwarder in DNS can be your router or ISP

I cannot answer this because I don't know what the IP of your AD DNS server
is. If this is the IP of the server that the AD DNS zone is on then it
should be the ONLY DNS the clients should point to, unless there is more
than one DNS server with the AD zone on it.

If you have more than one DNS server, neither should have the other as a
forwarder, this will cause DNS loop.
Also the Server shouldnt the server have its Default
gateway pointing to the other server and have it resolve
the internet by goin to the DNS also?
The router should be the gateway on all machines.
All clients must point ONLY to the IP of the internal DNS server(s) for DNS,
not the router.
Configure the router as a forwarder in the internal DNS server(s).

Thank you very much for that...
So the dns for each client pc should be pointed to the
internal DNS, and my server should be to that of my other
router not the linksys correct?

and my DNS forwarder should be? that of my linksys router?
