I have two 2000 servers on my network, 1 is a domain controller the other an additional controller.
I have installed DNS onto both servers but we seem to have alot of problems.
For example, i restarted the addtional server and i later noticed that the forward look up zone had been removed from the primary server, causing many a problem.
DNS is setup as a secondary server on the additional and active directory intergrated on the primary, but i have noticed the roles changing on both servers on its own accord.

Our additional server is used for routing to the net using a 3rd party program.
We are sure that all the settings are correct in DNS but these problems keep reappearing.

PS:we also have a problem with the additional server, after the reboot i seem unable to ping any machine on the network, but the server is accessable from the network.

Delete the Secondary zone on your additional DC, if you are using AD
integrated on the first DC, the zone _will_ be replicated to the second DC.
You can speed up this process, point the additional DC to the first for DNS
restart the netlogon service and run ipconfig /registerdns and force
replication.
