DNS problem

I have a rather strange problem and I am sure it is a DNS
problem. I have a 2000 server that is acting as a web
server. All of the web sites hosted on this server work
well except for one. When accessed from within my WAN
one site loads very slowly when using the URL, it loads
very quickly when using the IP address. It loads fine
from outside using both URL and IP address.

Has anyone seen this type of behavior?

How are the WAN clients configured to resolve DNS names? Where is the DNS
record for the web site hosted? Can you test DNS name resolution for the web
site from a client on the WAN using nslookup?

Marc - Thanks for your reply. We are running W2K with AD
servers. We have approximately 60 total servers in the
wan. The DNS is located on one of the boxes. (That is
it's only use). All clients are DHCP'd. One of the
things that we have discovered - if we change the name
for this web (ex: dog to cat) then everything is fine.
However our inside devices (users)have to use "dog" to
get to the web and the outside users have to use "cat".
I can't help but think that this is a DNS table problem,
however we have reviewed the tables and nothing looks
amiss. Thanks for your help.
