On my machine at work when i open outlook it gets a mail
delivery error and has a problem getting to our own web
site. To resolve this i have too remove my primary dns and
re-enter it. It wasn't much of a problem until more and
more people started getting the same problem. Can anyone
help or give me some insight into why this is happening?

Is this a Win2k domain?
If it is point all machines to the internal AD DNS server ONLY.

Is you internal domain name the same name as your external domain?
Add the missing host records for mail, www, and whatever with their
respective IP addresses to the internal DNS server's forward lookup zone for
the domain name.

For your internal DNS server to resolve domains it does not own configure
your local DNS as per this KB: 300202 - HOW TO Configure DNS for Internet
Access in Windows 2000
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;300202&FR=1

When you are having this problem, try this. Open a command prompt on the machine experiencing the issue. Run nslookup and press enter. NSLOOKUP will
connect to your default DNS server. You may get a timeout error. Just ignore this. Verify that you are indeed connected to the correct DNS server. If not, what
is the DNS server it connected to? If it connected to the correct DNS server, enter the name of the server that mail is deliered to and press enter. Does this
resolve? Does it resolve to the correct IP address.
