My website is hosted on an external server. My clients cannot connect

If I wanted to create a record in DNS to point to the server
IP/domain name.
What type and where would I include it?
I'm going to assume your external name and internal AD name are the same? If
so, under your current AD zone name in DNS, create an 'A' record, call it
'www' (without the quotes) and type in the actual external IP address.
If the internal/external names are different, then you can create a zone
called thatdomain.com (or whatever your domain is called) and create two
records: one, create a www record as above, and two, create a blank record
as well (so you can get to it by using
http://thatdomain.com without the www
in front of it) by rt-clicking, new HOst name, leave the name portion blank,
and give it the IP. It may bark at you saying you can't do that, but just
say yes anyway and you're good to go.
In the first same name scenario, it is difficult to create a blank record
because the DCs register a blank record to identify themselves for AD
functionality, and you don't want to alter that.
