DNS or Net Logon problem?

I have a DNS /DHCP server. I get a warning error in event viewer when Net
Logon service starts

Error 5781 Dynamic registration or deletion of one or more DNS records
associated with the DNS domain 'mydomain.com' failed These records are used
by other
computers to locate this server as a domain controller.

I let active directory configure my DNS server. This is a standalone server
acting as the PDC. I read their tips and can't identify the issue. FYI - I
am able to browse the Internet I have verified the DNS servers on my NIC are
the correct ones.

I appreciate the help.

Does the error only appear after booting the server? Have you checked to
see if the SRV records are registered in the DNS zonee? If the records are
there and it only occurs after boot then you should be able to ignore the
error. The error can occur when a DC points to itself. The netlogon
service may try to register itself before the DNS service starts. Take a
look at "259277 Troubleshooting Netlogon Event 5774, 5775, and 5781
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=259277 " for more info

Thanks, I'll check if this occurs in a bit. I'm reformatting the system for
the 3rd time. I don't recall having any issues with W2K but I'm completely
hosed with W2K3 - I have a lot to learn.
