Hi,

We just had a 2000Server upgraded to 2003. Problem is local DNS Server has
to be restarted sometimes even twice a day.
A lookup returns with a timeout. Then a restart and DNS is up again. The DNS
Server was there before the upgrade 2 windows server 2003

Thanks

Nich

If Windows Server 2003 is behind a firewall there could be an issue that has
arisen in this group regularly.
This is from previous posts I made earlier this week:
Is this server behind a firewall?
If it is, I suspect this is a EDNS0 issue, this has been prevalent on Win2k3
because EDNS0 is not widely supported yet. Many firewalls will not allow UDP
packets more than 512 bytes, causing some external queries to fail. You can
turn off EDNS0 to stop this behavior.

2003

If this does not resolve or describe your issue, please post your current
DNS server configuration with an ipconfig /all.
