I have just installed a new W2k Server with DNS. I do not want this DNS
Server to be an authoritive server, just one that will cache the DNS
requests. With that in mind....I just installed it and have made no
configuration changes. When I point a workstation at this server for DNS it
doesn't work. I'm sure there are things I didn't do....could anyone give me
some assistance. A brief outline of what
I should have done after installation.

Thanks

Configure the DNS server as per this KB: 300202 - HOW TO Configure DNS for
Internet Access in Windows 2000
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;300202&FR=1

Out of the box it should work as long as the server has Internet access itself. You could make the addtional step of configuring forwarders on the DNS server
pointing to the ISP.

Thank you,
